Small Business Partnership

    Our Small Business Partnership
Since 2013, Catawba Valley SHRM (CV-SHRM) has made reaching the local small business community a top priority. In partnership with the Small Business Center (SBC) at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC), we have put together programs to share our collective expertise and dedication with local small businesses.  Recently, we have expanded our outreach to include the Center for Commercial and Social Entrepreneurship (CCSE) at Lenoir Ryne University.  Catawba Valley SHRM is inspired to make a positive impact on local workforce development.  We take particular interest in support of, our economy’s backbone, small businesses and entrepreneurs.

    Our Small Business Proposition
Many of our Chapter’s members represent local small businesses.  This natural connection is, in part, why Catawba Valley SHRM has such a strong commitment to our local community of small businesses and entrepreneurs.  Our goal is to support these individuals and businesses with our expert knowledge of the many aspects of the field of human resource management.  We do this, primarily, by providing HR-related information, seminars, and services.  So far, we have coordinated three seminars, created the Small Business HR Survival Guide, and back a “HR Hotline” that provides guidance to local small businesses.  All-in-all, through our seminars, outreach, and hotline we have assisted more than 100 individuals and businesses.

    Our Members, Credentials, and Commitment
Catawba Valley SHRM was chartered on September 21, 2006 with the purpose of providing a local forum for professional development and networking.  CV-SHRM provides opportunities for HR professionals in and around Catawba Valley to develop leadership, managerial, public speaking, and decision-making skills. Traditionally, the Chapter has enriched the professional development of its members by teaming-up with speakers and trainers who are pre-approved to provide continuing education credits.  More than 50% Catawba Valley SHRM's members have attained PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, and SHRM-SCP designations; well above the national average for HR professionals holding any designation.  By staying current with topics concerning legislative issues that have an impact on local, state, and national levels Catawba Valley SHRM has positioned its members to be excellent human resources to the companies they work for and for this region.
